ANKARA – In the latest atrocity in the ongoing conflict between the Turkish State and the Kurdish population, an appallingly inhumane image from the Dicle district of Sirnak has surfaced on social media.
In the image, we see that 24-year-old Hacı Lokman Birlik’s dead body was tied to the back of an armored Turkish police vehicle and drug through the streets.
Hacı Lokman Birlik is the brother-in-law of HDP deputy Leyla Birlik.
Eyewitnesses said that the youth by the name of Hacı Lokman Birlik was first wounded in the armed attack, upon which special operation members came near him, shot him to death, and stepped on his head as they had a photo taken at the scene.
HDPE Co-Chairman Selahattin Demirtas also posted the photograph on social media.
The Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that they have launched an investigation, stating that the incident will be examined in all dimensions.
As the youth’s body was later taken to Şırnak State Hospital by the people, hospital staff Menal Geçer was also battered by special operation teams as she brought a stretcher to carry him into the hospital. Geçer was later detained and taken to Şırnak police headquarters.
HDP deputies Leyla Birlik, Faysal Sarıyıldız and Aycan İrmez, as well as hundreds of locals keep waiting outside the hospital to get Birlik’s body which will undergo post-mortem examination before burial.
